Travis Bodine
Travis Bodine is originally from Sacramento, California. He grew up in a family that was heavily involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon). At the age of eighteen, no longer believing in the Mormon doctrine, Travis left the church and became agnostic.
He met his wife, Kim, in northern California and they moved to San Diego, California (Kim’s hometown) where they were married in 2000. They were blessed with their son, Alex, in 2001 and shortly after, Travis joined the Army. The Bodines were stationed in Germany for three years during which time Travis served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. After sustaining an injury during the conflict, Travis was medically discharged from the Army and they returned to San Diego.
The Lord, in His providence, used the injury and Travis’ military discharge to save him. Having lost his career and his ability to play basketball, Travis began attending church with Kim’s parents in a hope of getting out of his depressed state. Through a small church in San Diego, the Lord revealed Himself and placed a call on Travis to preach the Word.
In 2006, Travis and Kim welcomed their daughter, Madison. A few years later, Travis began attending Southern California Seminary where he graduated from in 2012, earning his Bachelor’s of Biblical Studies. That same year, the Bodines made the move to North Carolina. Travis was ordained as a pastor through First Baptist Church in Durham. He has since served as a bi-vocational pastor of Rock Spring Baptist Church and as an elder at Grace Hill Church, both in Pittsboro, NC. He is currently finishing his Master of Divinity at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In 2024, Travis was called to be the pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he has served since then. Travis has a heart to see Mt. Olive be a biblically faithful church, seeking to rescue the lost and equip the found through the teaching of sound doctrine and the making of disciples.
